Bangladesh's defence minister has died of a new coronavirus infection at the age of 57 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on June 29. He was admitted to hospital in late May, diagnosed with a new coronavirus in early June and transferred to the intensive-care unit in mid June as his condition worsened, media said. Since taking office in January, the minister has been in office for less than six months, having previously served as minister of Environment, forests and climate change. The country now has more than 140,000 confirmed cases and nearly 1,800 deaths.
